Jack has been learning about VM Box today, totally of his own choice. He set up the software on his own using an online tutorial when he got stuck and then install a copy of Windows XP with minimal help on some of the process. He’s never installed or seen an operating system installed so he did well and the bits he got stuck on were outdated settings and functions that he’d never heard of.
He has been playing around with the built in games and Paint to see how they are different from now and has made a video for his YouTube channel using the Movie Maker software.
We attended a session at Art in the Market featuring artist Jason Wilsher- Mills.
There was also some interact technology using iPads to find information about the art and artist. This will be part of Jack’s Art Award.
Today before group we worked on Jack’s Art Award and completed some Klee inspired art using newspaper, sharpies and oil pastels.
Jack completed his first project for his bronze Art Award today – a sunflower collage inspired by Van Gogh, O’Keeffe and Klimt. I made a collage as he worked too.
Today we went to the Living Planet Centre in Woking. It turned out to be a shorter visit than I expected but the activities and quizzes mere enjoyed.
We had a go at fluid art after watching a free course on Udemy. We followed the starter tutorial using paint, PVA and silicone lubricant.
The results were not great and not sure what went wrong or if it was something about the materials we used. Will look into a bit more and watch some videos on YouTube and give it another go.
This was a project for Jack’s Art Award Bronze so it’s a shame it didn’t work out better. Though if he decides to carry on working with the technique he can write about how he experimented and researched to improve.
